You enter the dungeon and defeat Devos, though the Jailer still remains a threat. Their real target was the Spires of Ascension, which you have to help defend.
Kleia ascends, but she is immediately wounded as the Forsworn, lead by Devos, attack, destroying the Crest of Ascension. Your time with Kleia brings you closer together and you become soulbinds. Kleia is shocked when you bring the soul to Oribos, only to discover all souls are being sent to the Maw. As part of Kleia's final trial, you witness the last moments of Ben Howell, a brave Human from Azeroth who died defending his family from a Scourge attack. You help Kleia as she becomes an Ascended, a winged Kyrian whose sacred duty is to carry the souls of the dead safely to Oribos where they are judged by the Arbiter. In return, he promises to help you gain more power. You help the Runecarver recover some of his memories and unshackle one of his arms. You discover a strange object on the warden and soon learn it unlocks a special area in Torghast, where the Runecarver is being kept chained by the Jailer. Ve'nari is already expecting you and helps you access Torghast, where you rescue Baine from Warden Arkoban.
You are summoned to Oribos by Highlord Bolvar Fordragon, who suggests you ask Ve'nari in the Maw if she can help you find Baine.

You form a special bond with Pelagos in the Soulbind ritual, and learn how to unlock certain upgrades in your Covenant Sanctuary. You venture into the Maw, where you rescue souls and bring them back to your Covenant with the help of a broker named Ve'nari, and witness Baine Bloodhoof being dragged into Torghast, Tower of the Damned. You are gifted special abilities unique to the Kyrian, unlock World Quests, and you are rewarded with your first Renown. Having been asked to choose a Covenant, you join the Kyrian and learn about various aspects of your new role.
